Defending state champion Oak Park impressed with a 44-27 pounding of visiting St. Patrick before 700 fans Wednesday night.

The Huskies got pins from Frank Picchiotti (135), Chris Dardanes (140) and Nick Kowal (189), Nick Dardanes (145).

Sam Brookes (160) added a technical fall and the Huskies got major decisions from Colin Rogers (125), Chirino Watson (130), Ben Brookes (215), and Cameron Harris (103).

‘‘We got a lot of new kids in our lineup this year, and this was a good first match to start out,’’ Nick Dardanes said. ‘‘Saturday is going to be very tough [at the Conant Invitational]. That’s going to give us our real test.’’

St. Patrick got pins from Stephen Kettner (119) and Joe Cortese (152). Alex Ortiz (171) won in a decision.
