With a trio of champions, the host Eagles totaled 253 points to win the 33rd annual Leyden Invitational on Saturday.
Jake McCabe (103) had two pins and a technical fall for the Eagles. Adam Schammert (160) and Dan Kiebler (215) also took first.
“From top to bottom, we had guys really step us for us,” Leyden coach
Jason Potter said. “Schammert [two pins] is getting back to a 100
percent and wrestled really solid. McCabe did an outstanding job for
us.”
Conant, which finished second with a 212, got titles from Vince Gottardo (112) and Joe Patricelli (189).
Stevenson also had three champions: Nick Pagano (140), Nathan Millman (145) and Turron Washington (285).
Highland Park was led by Joe Schwartz (119) and Danny Fischer (125). Schwartz (23-1) impressed with a technical fall and a pin. He also handled New Trier’s Jared Mathews with an 11-4 decision in the final.

At Oak Park
The No. 2 Huskies had no problem pounding their competition Saturday in a quad. The Huskies beat Wheaton North 47-17, Libertyville 46-22 and St. Rita 52-20.
“We’re improving as a dual team,” Oak Park coach Mike Powell said. “We got a good effort from all our wrestlers. We wrestled smart and got bonus points when we could.
"You always think you can win a few more matches. [But] I think our best duals are ahead of us. We want to peak at the right time."
St. Rita’s top-rated Jahwon Akui (160), who has been a force all year, improved to 17-1 with two pins and a technical fall.

At Plainfield Central
The No. 5 Wildcats (14-0) won three times at home, highlighted by a 39-29 victory over No. 9 Crystal Lake Central. Plainfield also beat Mount Carmel 48-12 and Joliet Catholic 80-0.
Getting three wins for the Wildcats were Nathan Davis (pin, decision, forfeit) at 103, Steven Bradtmueller (decision, major decision, tech. fall) at 119/125, Luke Plese (two pins, forfeit) at 125/130, Kyle Schomer (pin, tech. fall, decision) at 135/140, Danny Deufel (decision, forfeit, pin) at 171/189 and heavyweight Lavelle Howard (two pins, forfeit).
At 145, Crystal Lake Central's Joey Kielbasa edged No. 3 Eric Oyster of Plainfield 4-2 in overtime.
At Glenbard West
St. Charles East had 10 wrestlers place in the top four en route to winning the eight-team Chris Chappell Invitational at Glenbard West. The Saints beat runner-up Reavis 226.5-196. Glenbard South (195.5) was third.
St. Charles East had four champs: Alex Maynard (119), Cody Crawford (130), Daniel Mercadente (152) and Nick Scimeca (160).
Reavis also picked up four firsts, getting titles from Josh Arnold (103), Frankie Capasquini (145), Jose Pizano (171) and Christian Alcantara (215).
Rounding out the individual champs were Glenbard West's Sam Littlehale (112) and Mike Letmanski (125), Glenbard South's Mike Peters (135) and Austin Teistma (heavyeight) and Addison Trail's Kerin Ramirez (140) and Arber Bebo (189).
At Sycamore
Lockport claimed the 16-team championship with 243.5 points. Rockton Hononegah was second with 205.5
Winning individual championships for Lockport were Jameson Oster (119), Abe Omar (125), Kevin Bialka (152), Brad Johnson (189), Alex Rodriguez (215) and Mike Tetlow (285).
Tony Tonelli (130) finished second. Matt Weber (140) finished third while Mark Stenberg (171) was fourth. Emeric Williams (103) and Shaun'Qae McMurtry (145) were fifth. Brandon Golob (135) was eighth.
At Waubonsie Valley
Plainfield (14-0) remained perfect with three wins. Plainfield defeated Joliet Catholic Academy 80-0 before downing Crystal Lake Central 39-29 and Mount Carmel 48-12.
Winning three matches for the Wildcats were Nathan Davis (103), Steven Bradtmueller (119), Lucas Plese, Kyle Schomer (135), Dan Deufel (171) and Lavelle Howard (285), who had two pins. Plese also had two pins.
Taking two victories included Terry Kubski (112), Kyle Ledbetter (130), Eric Oyster (145), Josh Toton (152) and Nicoli Trevino (215).
At Wheeling
The host Wildcats scored three easy wins, beating Glenbrook South 78-0, Niles West 53-12 and Loyola 55-12.
Going 3-0 for Wheeling were Luke Smith (two pins, forfeit) at 125, Mike Smith (two pins, major decision) at 130, Rob Desto (two pins, major) at 135, David Aranda (two pins, major) at 140, Enkhbaatar Erdene-Ochir (decision, two majors) at 145 and Dan Vargas (pin, two technical falls) at 189.
