Teams
1. Downers Grove South: Defending 3A triple jump champ Tori Franklin leads a
team that can score big points from the sprints to the distances to the
relays.
2. Morgan Park: Ninth in 3A last year with a young team, the Mustangs drop
to 2A this spring and could contend for coach Derrick Calhoun's eighth state
title.
3. Homewood-Flossmoor: Abieyawa Ehimwenman excels in the jumps and the
sprints for the deep and talented Vikings.
4. Palatine: The Pirates put together three nationally-ranked relay teams
indoors, which bodes well for improving on last year's tie for 10th in 3A.
5. Young: Returning 400 champ Raena Rhone and jumper Elisabeth Forte, among
others, should keep the Dolphins among the best in Class 3A.
6. Lincoln-Way East: The Griffins are exceptionally young and also
exceptionally talented. Aaliyah Brown, the 3A champ in the 100 as a freshman
last season, leads a team that figures to only get better.
7. Glenbard West: The Hilltoppers, led by senior hurdler Kathryn Pickett,
are coming off their first indoor conference title.
8. Plainfield North: Sprinter Cessily Jones is one of the state's best and
the Tigers also should put together some solid relays.
9. York: Distance ace Emma Fisher and some quality relay teams should keep
the Dukes competitive.
10. Waubonsie Valley: Sprinter Morolake Akinosun made a big splash at the
Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Classic.
