Top 5 teams

1. Homewood-Flossmoor: The Vikings have the rare chance to truly repeat with their entire roster returning from last year's dominant state championship performance. Another title would bring them within one of Regina for the most girls golf championships in IHSA history.

2. New Trier: Despite the blow of top junior Elizabeth Szokol missing the season with a knee injury, the Trevians should be the main threat to H-F. Senior Kristin Wright is back after finishing fifth at state last year.

3. Loyola: Loyola has reached the state tournament the past three years, and Molly Hulseman, Nina Puch and Caroline Newell were on the past two qualifiers and are all back to make a run this year.

4. Hinsdale Central: The Red Devils have only one senior (Erin Ahern) in their starting lineup, but their youth is quite experienced. Sophomores Danielle Brown and Rosanna Lederhausen each placed in the top 43 at state as freshmen.

5. WW South: The class of the western suburbs returns three girls who placed in the top 50 at state last year (Emily Johnson, Renee Solberg and Sarah Skula).
