Updated: March 23, 2011 9:32AM

Fremd's Maegan Wochinski knows as a Senior, she needs to take a leadership role.

"We have a young team and we have had some problems with dealing with the pressure in the meets," Wochinski said. "I have been telling them to push through it and have fun."

Fremd may have had a breakthrough and took Wochinski's advice to score a 145.675 to advance to the Stevenson sectional Monday.

"I thought we had our best meet of the year," Fremd coach Jim Guest said. "The overall score might not reflect that, but I thought we did very well.

The state series could not have come at a better time for Fremd. The Vikings, who have had a roller coaster type season, find themselves on the upswing at the right time.

We are finding our rhythm and hopefully we can build on that," Guest said. "We will make some slight adjustments and focus on our executions and clean some things up. "

Wochinski won the all-around with a 37.575 She also won the bars with a 9.575 and the beam with a 9.50.

Vernon Hills' Alli Tran was second in the all-around with a 36.35 while teammate Sarah Lopez was third with a 35.775.

Tran won the vault with a 9.40 and Libertyville's Leah Herchenbach won the floor with a 9.275.
