Football: Ted Monken out as Metea Valley coach
Updated: December 2, 2011 6:32PM
After winning just one game during its inaugural varsity football campaign in 2010, Metea Valley finished this past season at 4-5, seemingly adding some sustained momentum heading into the program’s third season in 2012.
But Year No. 3 will begin without the man who has been leading the program since its inception---Ted Monken.
In an e-mail, Metea Valley principal Jim Schmid confirmed that Monken recently resigned as head football coach.
“That is correct, he has resigned his position as head football coach at Metea Valley,” Schmid wrote.
Monken, the son of former and longtime Lake Park football coach Bob Monken, a member of the Illinois High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame, and brother of Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Todd Monken, came to Metea Valley from St. Charles East where he compiled a 36-17 record in five years.
