Report: Hilltoppers’ Caspers picks Stanford

Updated: October 12, 2011 3:36PM

Glenbard West offensive guard Johnny Caspers has committed to Stanford, according to Rivals.com reports.

Caspers, a 6-foot-3, 270-pounder, is the second Hilltopper lineman to pick a BCS school. Earlier this fall, defensive lineman Tommy Schutt committed to Penn State.

“I know he’s been playing well,” CBS College Sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming said of Caspers. “He’s a kid who’s got a lot of upside.”

The attention Schutt has drawn may have helped to raise Caspers’ profile.

“By the time the (college) coaches come out in May, they’re limited with their time because of all the schools they have to cover,” Lemming said.

Because many would make a point of checking out Schutt, they also got a chance to see Caspers, he noted.
