Hurley denied injunction, still sidelined

A Cook County Circuit Court judge on Friday denied a request for an injunction that would have allowed senior quarterback DaeShaun Hurley to play for Julian.
Hurley, who is being recruited by several major colleges, transfered from Morgan Park to Julian before this school year but has yet to play for the Jaguars (1-2). Morgan Park did not sign off on the transfer, and on Monday Public League director of sports administration Calvin Davis ruled Hurley ineligible for one year, citing a Public League bylaw banning transfers for athletic reasons.
Hurley’s bid to play this season will go on, though. Michael Latz, an attorney for Hurley’s family, said Friday that an appeal would be filed with the Chicago Public Schools.
“We’re going to have that hearing on Tuesday,” Latz said. “Depending on what happens there, we’ll take whatever next step is required.”
