Hurley seeks injunction to play

Julian quarterback DaeShaun Hurley’s family has gone to court in an attempt to get him on the football field.

Julian coach Jason Richardson said Thursday night that a hearing is scheduled for Friday in Cook County Circuit Court on the Hurley family’s request to allow him to play after transfering from Morgan Park.

On Monday, Public League director of sports administration Calvin Davis denied Hurley’s transfer, ruling that it was for athletic reasons. That is against Public League bylaws.

Hurley’s family is seeking an injunction allowing him to play for Julian (1-2), which meets Raby at Hanson Stadium Saturday afternoon.

“The (request for the) injunction was filed today,” Richardson said Thursday. “We’ll have an outcome by (Friday). ... All we can do is wait for the final outcome.”

Hurley, a 6-foot-1, 180-pounder, is being recruited by several major-college programs.

Davis declined to comment on the legal action Thursday night.
