Waukegan put some pressure on highly-regarded Glenbrook South Tuesday in a Central Suburban League boys volleyball match, but wound up on the short end of a 25-16, 25-13 result.

Glenbrook is now 11-7 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the league, while Waukegan 1-15 on the year.

“We know we’re going to be out-heighted. Therefore, we have to pass the ball better than the other team,” said Waukegan coach Rachel Wiatrowski, whose squad faced a team that featured players 6-foot-4, 6-4, 6-5 and 7-0.

“We practice hard, we play with a lot of heart, but it’s hard to overcome the height difference every night.”

Playing well for the Bulldogs were juniors Elias Leyva (the only 6-footer on the team had four kills), and Kevin Garcia (four kills).

Lucas Rytel, the Titans’ 7-footer, had 11 kills and three blocks. He’s being recruited to play college ball at Santa Barbara in California.
