Michael Howell put on quite a show for Carver.
Unfortunately for the Challengers, it was pretty much a one-man effort and his great game was spoiled by Peoria Central’s greater depth and talent as the Knights coasted to a 62-41 victory in the Bob Hambric Shootout Sunday at T.F. North in Calumet.
Howell scored 23 points, including 17 of the Challengers’ first 25 points. He scored his team’s first nine points in the third quarter, punctuating the run with a spectacular drive down the right baseline the left-hander finished with a dunk.
Peoria’s Adonis Foote drilled two three-pointers in scoring eight points at the start of the third quarter that pushed the Knights (12-1) out to a commanding 41-19 lead. Trey Kellum added 13 points for the Knights.
Erick Clinton added eight points for the Challengers (4-10).

TEAM Englewood 61, South Shore 60: Johnny Roland scored 19 points to lead TEAM Englewood over South Shore in the championpship game of the Ag. Science holiday tournament.
DeAngelo Rocquemore contributed 14 points for the Eagles (13-2).
Jaquan Williams, who missed a game-winning shot at the buzzer, scored 19 to lead the Tars (7-9).
