Boys Basketball: Eisenhower breaks three-point record in win vs St Laurence

Updated: December 14, 2011 9:17PM

Eisenhower set a state record for three-pointers made in a game with 24 in a 111-92 win over St. Laurence at the Marist RedHawk Holiday Invitational Wednesday night.

Tyrone Terrell scored 50 points, including 12 three-pointers, and Dustan Lewis contributed 27 in the scoring barrage for Eisenhower (3-6). Cortez Gross added 13 points.

“We were struggling so it’s nice to get a couple of wins in a row,” Eisenhower coach Mike Curta said. “We play up-tempo basketball and sub in five [players] at a time. Obviously, we want to win but the by-products of our style of play are having fun and [having] a shot at breaking records.”

Prior to the Cardinals’ historic three-point shooting night, Crescent City (1990) and Springfield Lutheran (1997) shared the state record of 22 shots made behind the three-point arc.
