The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the Crete-Monee High School teacher and basketball coach who was placed on administrative leave, according to a source close to the investigation.

Matt Ryndak was put on leave last week after the department contacted Crete-Monee School District 201U about the investigation.

Ryndak, who did not return multiple calls to his cell phone seeking comment, is being paid while on leave. District 201U Supt. John Rodgers said he didn’t know how long Ryndak, a physical education teacher at the school, would be out.

Ryndak joined Rocky Hill’s staff at Crete-Monee as an assistant in 2009 before taking over the top job for the 2010-11 season. He led the Warriors to a 25-4 mark and a supersectional berth.
