It didn't take long for Northern Illinois coach Mark Montgomery to nab his first impact recruit. Montgomery, who has been on the job a little over a month, received a big spring commitment when De La Salle's Dre Henley decided to call DeKalb home for the next four years.

Henley, a talented and versatile 6-6 swingman, is one of the top unsigned seniors in the Class of 2011. And he becomes the best in-state recruit the Huskies have landed in quite some time after helping lead De La Salle to a 22-3 record this past season.

A lefty who can handle it on the perimeter and play several different positions on the floor, Henley possesses a big body and skill level that makes him an intriguing prospect. He sees the floor well and is a pretty good passer with vision, can knock down a three-pointer and will post up on the block against smaller defenders. Henley is an ideal fit in the Mid-American Conference and should provide an immediate boost to the program as a freshman.

Henley joins a NIU recruiting class that includes recent commits Keith and Kevin Gray of Brooks, highly-regarded guard Marquavis Ford of Saginaw, Mich., and Glenbard East point guard Zach Miller, who signed with the Huskies last fall.
