Milwaukee Hamilton (Wis.) rocketed out to an 11-2 lead and went wire-to-wire for a 75-68 victory over Mundelein in Game 3 of the Conference Challenge Classic at Gordon Tech.

Mundelein (22-7) got within three points early in the fourth quarter, but Hamilton (16-4) stretched the margin back out to 58-47 with 3:11 to play and Mundelein chased the rest of the way.

The Mustangs got within 68-65 with 37 seconds left beforethe Wildcats hit 7 of 8 free throws to clinch it.

“I loved the effort in the second half. They are a very talented, big, long, well-coached team,” said Mundelein coach Richard Knar. “We can’t play from behind for an entire game against a team like that.

“Junior guard Robert Knar had a team-high 24 points, and Chino Ebube added 14.

Sean O’Brien fouled out with 2:27 to play with nine points.

Hamilton was led by 6-8 sophomore guard Kevon Looney, who had 29 points and is a sure-fire Division 1 prospect.

“He’s a tremendous player,” Richard Knar said. “He’s a one-and-done type of guy, and he’s only a sophomore.”

Knar’s one-and-done was referring to playing one year of college ball and then going pro.

“This is the type of team you want to play at this time of year,” Richard Knar said. “When you make mistakes, they make you pay for them.”
