Following an impressive win over New Trier on Friday, Evanston responded with a 60-53 victory against St. Charles East on Saturday in Evanston.

“Tonight was Senior Night and our last night in these jerseys and we basically felt that we had to leave with a bang,” senior forward Terrell Farmby said.

Evanston (16-9) had difficulties stopping sophomore guard Dominic Adduci and junior Kendall Stephens in the first half.

The two combined for 19 of the team’s 27 first-half points and guided St. Charles East (12-10) to a two-point lead at the half.

The contest remained tight throughout the second half, but with just over three minutes remaining in the game, Farmby and senior guards Josh Irving and Jordan Perrin closed the game with key buckets and crucial free throws.

Perrin and Leonard Garron led the way for Evanston with 16 points each, Irving had 11 points and Farmby finished with eight points and eight rebounds.

Stephens finished with 22 points, and Adduci scored 13 points to go along with three rebounds and three steals. Senior guard Dom Urso added nine points for St. Charles East, hitting three three-pointers.

Before the game Stephens’ father, Everette Stephens, was honored.

After starring at Evanston, Everette Stephens moved on to Purdue and had short stints with the Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks before arriving at his current position as an assistant coach for St. Charles East.

“It’s nice that they’re able to recognize someone who’s come through the ranks and did well,” Everette Stephens said. “It’s inspiring to those younger players and that’s what it’s all about.”
