Chris Marras will be changing mascots in 2012.

The Vernon Hills catcher has made a verbal commitment to play baseball for the Butler University Bulldogs in the fall of 2012.

Marras, who has one year remaining as a Vernon Hills Cougar, caught the eye of Butler with his solid play at Vernon Hills last spring and with Top Tier over the summer. As a junior at VHHS, Marras hit .446 with 13 doubles, one triple, five homers and 43 RBI.

Marras, who was a standout in the showcase at Stevenson earlier this summer, played his club ball with Top Tier.
