Providence 13, Mount Carmel 3: No.4 Providence (21-3, 9-3 Catholic Blue) was led by Brandon Magallones (five innings pitched, two earned runs, six hits, eight strikeouts) on the mound with Sam Travis (2-for-4, home run, four RBI) and Dan Potempa (2-for-3, home run, double, four RBI) aiding offensively.
St. Rita 5, Brother Rice 1: Scott Thomas (6-2) only allowed one hit while fanning 10 in a complete-game effort on the mound for No.6 St. Rita (22-4, 9-3 Catholic Blue). Offensively the Mustangs were led by Brian Sicher (three-run home run) and Zach Soria (2-for-3, double, RBI).
St. Laurence 9, Loyola 3: Nick Altobella (7-0) fanned five in the win for No. 7 St. Laurence (20-6, 10-3 Catholic League).
Glenbrook North 7, Niles: Alex Hermeling (5-1) fanned seven in the win for No. 8 Glenbrook North (21-2). Jason Scholl went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and three RBI.
Andrew 7, Oak Lawn 1: Winning pitcher Ryan McCollam (3-3) went 5 1/3. Dan Durkin was 4-for-4 with a RBI and Nick DeBenedetti drove in three runs for Andrew (17-6).
Argo 7, Joliet Central 6: Jeremy Vandergriff was 3-for-4 with a triple, double and three RBI. Tony Noto went 2-for-3 with two RBI for Argo (11-10).
Aurora Central 7-6, Winnebago 5-2: Jose Cazares was the winning pitcher of Game 1. Gino Cabral was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Matt Miller had 11 K’s in the Game 2 win. Ryan Harreld each Zack Tobin had a homer.
Aurora Christian 17, IMSA 1: Aurora Christian (20-6) was led by Josh Haugen (2-for-3, two-run home run, five RBI, three runs) and Bobby Kuntzendorf (2-for-2, three-run home run, two runs).
Bowen 14, Carver 8: Winning pitcher Macario Ortiz (2-1) had 11 strikeouts for Bowen (4-7-1, 4-4 Carlton Fisk). Justin Lee went 4-for-4, with a three-run homer and seven RBI. Jaeron Mickles had a RBI and two runs.
Clemente 8, Von Steuben 0: Chris Simon tossed a complete game, scattering three hits and fanning seven. At the plate Simon went 3-for-3 with a triple, double and two RBI. Felix DeJesus was 2-for-3 and drove in a run.
Evanston 11, Niles North 1: Jordan Crawford pitched the win for Evanston (15-8, 6-4 Central Suburban South).
Fenwick 8, De La Salle 3: Fenwick’s (14-10): Brendan Fitzgerald (3-for-4, double, three RBI), Ryan Fitzgerald (2-for-4, two-run home run, two RBI) and John Planek (2-for-3, home run) were the main contributors on offense.
Glenbrook South 8, Deerfield 4: Josiah Carlson (5-0) allowed two earned runs in the complete-game win for Glenbrook South (19-5, 10-1 Central Suburban South). Sully Stadler was 3-for-3 with two RBI at the plate.
Homewood-Flossmoor 12, Rich Central 5: Ryan Rasmas was 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run for Homewood-Flossmoor (14-7).
Lakes 1-12, Antioch 2-4: In Game 2 of the doubleheader Jake Brown was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and two runs scored. Kyle Noon went 3-for-5 with a run and teammate Chris Hoffman was 2-for-4 with two RBI in the Lakes (12-10, 5-2 North Suburban Prairie) victory.
Lake Forest 9, Lake Zurich 6: Brett Bartuch went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI for Lake Forest (10-11, 2-6, North Suburban Lake). John Palutsis (4-2) was the winning pitcher.
Lake Park 11-10, East Aurora 10-4: Jeremy Olenek (2-0) was the winning pitcher of Game 1. Zach Tsiordras was 4-for-4, with a home run, two doubles and five RBI. Tommy Spear was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Eric Vatch (4-0) was Game 2’s winning pitcher. Zach Tsiordras continued his big day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Tommy Spear went 2-for-4 adding three RBI.
Leo 13, Hales 3: Phillip Byrd pitched six innings, striking out nine. Byrd went 2-for-2, driving in three runs at the plate. Clinton Hampton was 3-for-3 with five RBI for Leo (12-10, 4-7 Catholic White).
Lincoln-Way East 8, Stagg 7: Dan Huizinga went 2-for-3, cranking a three-run homer and totaling four RBI. Joe Piesanti drove in the game-winning run and Mark Chemello (5-1) logged the win.
Maine South 6, Maine West 1: Rocky Saavedra threw a complete game for Maine South (10-7, 6-3 Central Suburban South). Jon Gobbo was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Chris Roombus was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Nazareth 10-14, St. Patrick 0-1: Kane Lombardo went 2-for-3 and winning pitcher Dominic Dupruva (7-1) led Nazareth in Game 1. In Game 2, winning pitcher Ryan Powers (4-1) struck out six and hit a three-run homer.
New Trier 11, Highland Park 0: Winning pitcher Nick Hedge went five innings, scattering three hits and striking out four. Eric West hit a three-run homer to accompany five RBI in the New Trier (16-7) win.
Oak Park-River Forest 14-15, Proviso East 4-7: Frank Picchiotti (3-for-3) and Jack Picchiotti (4-for-5) powered Oak Park-River Forest (16-8) in Game 1. Jack Johannesson went 3-for-3 in Game 2.
Oswego East 2, Kaneland 1: Oswego East (8-14): Matt Miller allowed just one run and one hit in his complete-game victory. Danny Klingbeil went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI.
Reed-Custer 8, Gardner 5: Alex Hughes had three RBI for Reed-Custer (14-14).
Riverside-Brookfield 2, Wheaton Academy 1: Winning pitcher David Tortorici went six innings, gave up one earned run and struck out six for Riverside-Brookfield (15-8-1).
Robeson 19, Urban Prep 3: Wooh Davis powered Robeson (8-7, 5-5 Carlton Fisk) striking out 14 in the complete-game win and going 5-for-5 from the plate wit six RBI. Rashard Smith went 4-for-5 with a homer, triple and four RBI. Percey Spraggins went 4-for-5 with four RBI.
St. Francis de Sales 12, Seton 2: Shane Burmistrz went the distance, giving up just a hit while fanning six in a complete-game performance for St. Francis de Sales (9-11). Zach Mcintyre was 4-for-4, with three doubles, two RBI and four runs. Kemari Simmons had three RBI.
St. Ignatius 13, Bishop McNamara 7: Jared Deveau and Bill Boyle each went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the St. Ignatius (16-12, 8-7 Catholic White) win.
St. Viator 4-4, Marian Catholic 3-3: Joe Rossi hit a homer in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Cosimo Cannella went 2-for-3 with a homer a double and four RBI in the St. Viator (14-9, 8-2 East Suburban Catholic) win.
Stevenson 6, Mundelein 2: Isaac Greenspon (4-0) went six innings and struck out five. Brandon Waters was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBI in the Stevenson (19-2) win.
