Mount Carmel 11, Highland Park 1: John Kravitz struck out six for No. 9 Mount Carmel (7-0). Jason Gasser and Sam Kint each hit three-run homers while Chris Sujka was 2-for-3 with a home run.
St. Laurence 10, Kenwood 0: Nick Altobella fanned eight and Bryan Villanova had a two-run homer and Mike Chimera had a pair of doubles to go along with his two RBI for No.5 St. Laurence (7-1).
Argo 11, Kelly 1: Jordan Ashley struck out six in five innings for Argo (3-0). Ryan Krob also had a double and three RBI.
Aurora Christian 10-16, Westmont 5-5: Kenny McCracken hit a pair of homers and scored three runs for Aurora Christian (4-2) in Game 1. Brent Minta (1-0) earned the win. Mitch Holtz was 3-for-4 with a homer and five RBI and Josh Haugen was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, three RBI and four runs scored.
Bishop McNamara 6, Bloom 2: Bishop McNamara (4-1) was led by Drew Nichols who hit a three-run homer in the win.
Bremen 12-7, Thornton 10-3: Joe Lyons hit a three-run homer and added four RBI while Jim Miller was 3-for-3 with three RBI in a Game 1 win. Ryan Andrel was 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI while Vince Jannotta had a homer and two RBI.
De La Salle 12-6, Shepard 2-5: Anthony Shimkus (2-0) struck out 10 and gave up no earned in five innings in Game 1 for De La Salle (5-0). He was also 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI. Ricardo Ramirez (1-0) struck out four a Game 2 win.
Guerin 7, Schurz 3: Guerin (3-3) was led by winning pitcher Connor Hudson, who tossed a complete game, striking out seven and allowing an earned run. Kevin Kross was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Fenwick 18, Northwood (Wis) 0: Fenwick pitcher Joe Pactzelt (1-0) tossed a perfect game, striking out eight for Fenwick (3-2). Nick Johnson was also 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI.
Geneva 7, West Aurora 4: Brad Bernhard was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI to lead the Vikings past the Blackhawks.
Herscher 11-11, Streator 1-5: Jordan Ruckman (2-0) struck out eight in Game 1 for Herscher (9-1). Wes Sproul was 4-for-4 with two RBI. In Game 2 Tyler Evans was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer.
Hinsdale South 4-18, Addison Trail 3-7: Tyler Langosch threw a complete game for Hinsdale South, striking out seven in Game 1.
Homewood-Flossmoor 6, T.F. South 5: Danny Lietz struck out five for Homewood-Flossmoor (5-1) in a 10-inning affair. Ben Kirchler was 3-for-4.
Illinois Lutheran 5, Shoreland Lutheran (Wis.) 3: Illinois Lutheran (1-3) captured its first win of the year behind Nick Durand (1-1), who struck out five and allowed one earned in six innings. Collin Borns had a three-run homer in the win.
Leyden 10-6, Morton 0-4: Eric Palmer (2-0) three a complete game in the first game, striking out eight for Leyden (4-0, 2-0 West Suburban Gold). Carlos Olavarria was 2-for-4 with two RBI. In Game 2, Justin Stawychny struck out nine and John Marino and Palmer each hit home runs.
Lincoln-Way Central 10-14, Immaculate Conception 0-4: Game 1 was won by Matt Mikolajczak (3-0), who struck out seven for Lincoln-Way Central (5-2). Greg Wymer was 2-for-3 two RBI. Jack Krull finished 3-for-4 with three RBI two runs scored and two stolen bases.
Lincoln-Way East 12, Reavis 2: Zach Jones was 2-for-3 with four RBI for Lincoln-Way East (4-3).
Lisle 9, Byron 7: Nick Thome was 2-for-3 with a run, a double, a walk and three RBI for the Lions in the nonconference win. Will DeCraene went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Lisle 8, Orion 6: The Lions rallied from a 6-1 deficit, scoring six times in the bottom of the fourth to earn a nonconference win. Ryan Burlison (3-for-3, run, RBI) and Will DeCraene (2-for-3, homer, run, RBI, walk) paced Lisle's offense.
Maine South 16, Lane 5: Will Krug went 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored for Maine South (2-1). Nick Mitrovich was 2-for-3 with a triple, double and four RBI. Kyle Richardson added a double and two RBI.
Manteno 11, Iroquois West 0: J.J. Witherow finished 4-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base for unbeaten Manteno (8-0).
Marmion 6-6, Sandwich 5-1: In Game 1 Steven Bryant was 4-for-4 with a triple and two RBI for Marmion (4-3). Mike Pipp had a pair of hits including a triple and two RBI. In Game 2 Travis Siwiec had a homer and two RBI while AJ Friedman had three RBI and Kyle Kozak had two runs scored.
Niles West 4, Buffalo Grove 1: Niles West (7-1) captured a win as Ryan Olsen finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and Kevin Ross added a RBI with two runs scored.
Oak Lawn 4, Young 3: Tony Swistek (2-1) fanned nine in six innings for Oak Lawn (3-3) while Alec Barnhardt totaled two hits, a RBI and a run scored.
Palatine 4, Bartlett 3: Eric Scheuermann pitched a six-hitter with four strikeouts as the Pirates won at home.
Palatine 7, Maine West 2: Joe Walsh (2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Jesse Bobbit (2-for-4, two RBI) and Cody Bobbit (2-for-5, 2 runs) led the Pirates to a nonconference win.
Richards 8, Brother Rice 2: Jim Augle had two hits including a two-run home run and Dan Kenealy added a double with two runs scored for Richards (3-2).
Round Lake 11, Woodstock 10: Freshman Ryan Newman was 4-for-5 with two RBI as visiting Round Lake won its opener. Randy Eanos (2-for-4, double, 3 RBI), Chris Rana (3-for-4, RBI) and Anthony Gutierrez (2-for-5, double, 3 RBI) also had big games for the Panthers.
St. Francis 10, Maine East 9: St. Francis (6-2) edged out a win behind Austin Wilkens (1-0), who struck out nine in five innings pitched in the win. KC Zimmerman was 3-for-4 with a RBI and Eric Stout finished with a homer and a double.
Schaumburg 4-11, Mather 1-2: Matt Brancato threw a complete game, striking out six for Schaumburg (3-1) in Game 1. Game 2 featured Matt Moran's 3-for-3 game with three RBI and three runs scored while Braden Teele had a three-run homer.
Serra (Calif.) 6, Notre Dame 5: Notre Dame (1-5) lost despite Jack Wieclispach's 3-for-3, two home run, four RBI game.
Taft 12, Chicago Academy 2: Scott Krawiec had three hits and scored three runs for Taft (3-0).
Wllowbrook 18-7, Proviso East 7-0: Alex Aiello drove in three runs in the opener and Matt Tiberi (2-1) got the win in the nightcap as Willowbrook (5-1) swept Proviso East.
