Michelle Braun provided all the offense Maine West needed Thursday with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth, helping the Warriors get past Lane 2-0 in the Class 4A Glenbrook South Sectional semifinals.
Two innings earlier, Braun came up to the plate in the same situation -– runners at second and third -– and struck out.
"I was relaxed more [the second time]," Braun said. "I tried not to remember the previous at-bat."
Maine West put runners in scoring position in nearly every inning, but each other time Indians pitcher Jazzy Camacho escaped with no harm done.
Lane's best scoring chance came in the second inning, as runners reached second and third with one out. Warriors pitcher Emily Ott (one hit, 12 strikeouts) struck out the next two batters to end the threat.
