Maine West clinched its fourth Central Suburban League North title in the past five years by topping host Deerfield 5-0 on Tuesday evening.
The win also assured the visiting Warriors (20-3, 9-0) of their sixth consecutive season of 20 or more victories.
All of the components that have allowed the program to sustain that level of success – solid hitting, pitching and fielding – were on display against Deerfield.
With three strikeouts, Maine West pitcher Emily Ott (14-2) wasn't overpowering. But she didn't make many mistakes, allowing just three hits and forcing eight groundouts.
"She threw strikes, and the defense played well behind her," Maine West coach Mike Murin said. "She took care of business."
Margo Ehorn, the No. 7 hitter, paced the Warrior offense with three RBI, including a two-run single in the second that opened the scoring.
Maine West added three runs in the third, but only had one more runner reach scoring position the rest of the way against Liz Tramutola, who was saddled with the loss for Deerfield (12-10, 7-2).
