Glenbard South's Jess Wilkes stymied Trinity at the Class 3A supersectional Monday at Judson University in Elgin.

Wilkes allowed just three hits and walked one while fanning eight as Glenbard South blanked Trinity 3-0. The Raiders (24-12), who were third in the state last year, will meet the Mattoon/Chatham Glenwood winner in Friday's Class 3A semifinals at EastSide Centre in East Peoria.

"All my pitches were good today," said Wilkes, who improved to 14-5.

"It was a rough day with the rain earlier. And it was muggy. But I got through it fine."

Wilkes got all the offensive help she needed in the bottom of the first when Glenbard South (24-12) scored two runs.

The Raiders had a chance to blow the game open early in the as they put together five consecutive hits. But Glenbard South would only tally two times.

South had one runner thrown out stealing third and another called out after failing to touch home on Danielle Chitkowski's double.

The Raiders added an insurance run in the fifth. Briana Meath, who singled and scored in part of a double steal in the first, tripled home Lauren Podgorski.

"We have scored in the first inning of our last three games," Glenbard South coach Julie Fonda said. "And that has been a big help for us. I just wish we would score in the middle innings. It would be better for my heart." Trinity finished 25-14.
