Monday's softball roundup

Fremd 7, Grayslake Central 1: Jessica Tackett hit a two-run homer and Jenny Schneider hit two doubles for the Vikings. Lena Brottman recorded the win for Fremd.

Lake Zurich 7, Hersey 3: Tabbetha Bohac pitched four innings, striking out four and surrendering three hits, while Coryn Schmit went 2-for-2, scored two runs and stole a base for Lake Zurich. Alex Block (1-for-2, RBI, run), and Amanda Orchard (1-for-3, two runs, stolen base) also contributed to the win for the Bears.

Barrington Tournament

Barrington 2, Glenbrook North 1: The Fillies' Kim Cygan recorded a complete game, surrendering only four hits and striking out 14. Cygan also added Barrington's only offense, with a two-run homer.

Warren 4, Deerfield 3: The Blue Devils were led by Kayla Hurd, who was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI and Sarah Klauser, who was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Samantha Berrios got the win, going eight innings and striking out four.
