Sisters will go head to head for the Public League girls basketball championship Sunday.

DePaul-bound Young senior point guard Chanise Jenkins will go up against her sister Debra, a Morgan Park junior, for the city title on Sunday at 4:45 p.m. at Chicago State, after the No. 2 Dolphins crushed Bogan 75-36 in the second Public League semifinal Wednesday night at DePaul's McGrath Arena.

No. 2 Young (20-2), which will try to defend its title, led 6-5 early before going on a 22-4 tear to go up 28-9 midway through the second quarter. Eight players scored as the Dolphins built a 44-17 lead at halftime. In the first half, Young was 14-for-17 from the line and it was never close as 14 Young players scored, led by Linnae Harper with 11 points, four rebounds and four steals. Bogan fell to 18-12.

"It will be exciting and I hoped it could happen," Chanise Jenkins said. "It will be our first time playing each other. But our father (Richard) would put us against each other one-on-one in the park. But we can't hack each other like we usually do."

"I don't think it will be a distraction," Young coach Corry Irvin said. "It should be fun for the family and the first time, except in summertime. I don't think I will match them up against each other."

For Chanise Jenkins, Wednesday was a chance to play on what will become her home court in front of Blue Demons coach Doug Bruno and a number of Blue Demon players.

"I love her leadership skills," Bruno said. "Chanise is a great leader who understands the big picture of basketball. While she is an excellent scorer, she could be an even better passer, She makes her teammates better and is a great defender.

"And the best thing is that she is a Chicago kid. We love to keep Chicago kids home and Chanise is another in a line of great Chicago players."

"This was great for me," Chanise Jenkins said. "I loved playing on this floor where I will play for the next four years."
