Simeon's Gregory runs over Young

If Simeon is to go far in the state playoffs it will be largely on the shoulders of junior quarterback Robert Gregory. Gregory and the No. 6 Wolverines finished a tough early part of the schedule and opened its Illini Red Bird conference slate with an impressive 61-12 win over Young on Friday at Rockne.
Gregory made plays through the air and with his feet, totaling five touchdowns for Simeon as they jumped out to a 20-0 lead six minutes into the game and never looked back.
"This is just one more win to add on to where we want to get to," Gregory said.
Gregory was 5-for-12 through the air for 92 yards and three touchdown passes while also rushing seven times for 77 yards and two additional touchdowns. Gregory's stats all came in the first half and he was replaced after the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter after running back Horatio Banks (five carries, 71 yards, two touchdowns) scored on a 40-yard touchdown run to give Simeon (4-0, 1-0) a commanding 54-0 lead.
"I just try to stay calm, stay cool and run the team," Gregory said.
It also helped that Simeon's defense was stifling yet again. A week after holding Morgan Park to 16 points, the Wolverines held the Dolphins (2-2, 0-1) to 12 points and didn't allow a first-down on a Young offensive play until Terry Baggett (20 carries, 109 yards, two touchdowns) ran for a first down with six minutes left in the third quarter. The Dolphins lone first down in the first half came on a 15-yard facemask penalty in the second quarter.
Baggett was a bright spot for the Dolphins in the second half, gaining 98 of his yards on the ground and scoring both Young touchdowns.
