Young blows by Prosser

Kevin Bush has faced the rare challenge of having to step in as interim coach of No. 24 Young in the absence of coach Tyrone Slaughter. The Dolphins have not missed a beat under Bush, including an 83-40 win against Prosser in a Public League postseason match up.

Slaughter was suspended for 10 days late last week by the IHSA for breaking recruiting violations.

"Stepping in for him isn't a big transition for me because all of our coaches know the process with this team" Bush said, " He [Slaughter] is a very dynamic coach, but the kids know the expectations are the same regardless of who is coaching."

Senior forward Sam Thompson played a pivotal role in the Dolphins' win on Tuesday night. Thompson scored 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had two blocks despite sitting out the entire fourth quarter.

"Sam did about everything for us and he showed that he is a consummate team player tonight," Bush said.

Bush successfully cycled in his entire active roster as all 10 players contributed in the first half to 38-19 lead.

"It's a great feeling to have a team of guys that have all bought in and to know that we can have guys come in off the bench and not miss a beat," Thompson said.

The Dolphins continued to roll in the second half outscoring the Falcons, 45-21. Young junior forward Gabriel Snider came off the bench to contribute 12 points on four three pointers.

"We want to play aggressively all game long," Bush said, " And we know that if we play hard that our players are going to need to rest and the bench has stepped up there."

Prosser guard Dellante Turnage scored 15 points in the loss.
