Nick Linne threw for 100 yards and scored two touchdowns as No. 24 Naperville Central beat No. 19 Wheaton North 28-13 on Friday in Wheaton.

‘‘It was a statement game for us,’’ Linne said. ‘‘I didn’t throw so well, but our defense stopped them. We just felt we were being neglected, and now we’re 4-0.’’

The Redhawks (4-0) scored on their first drive, going 76 yards on nine plays. Nick Kukuc (21 carries, 114 yards) scored on a 12-yard run for a 7-0 lead with 8:34 left in the first quarter. The Falcons (2-2) tied the score when Mike Trumpy (16 carries, 151 yards) scored on a 67-yard run to cap a three-play drive two minutes later.

After two more Redhawks touchdowns, Trumpy scored on a 16-yard run to pull Wheaton North to 21-13 with 2:41 left in the third quarter. The Falcons had two deep drives killed late in the game, with quarterback Taylor Graham fumbling and throwing an interception.

‘‘Defense at the end of the game won it for us,’’ Linne said. ‘‘When they started throwing, we knew where he was throwing to.’’
