The backfield duo of Michael Thomas and Sam Scherer scored two touchdowns each to pace the Trevians (6-3, 3-2) to a 34-10 victory on senior night over the visiting Bulldogs.

In the first quarter, it was Scherer toting the load for New Trier, gaining 68 yards on eight carries, including scoring runs of five and 10 yards.

Thomas then picked up where Scherer left off, scoring from 5 yards out in the 2nd quarter and 16 yards out in the third to end the game with 117 total yards.

It was all part of the plan for New Trier.

“We were hoping to get a lead and get a look at some different people for next week [playoffs]” said Trevians coach Dan Starkey.

Andrew Hrabe put the game on ice for the Trevians with a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Waukegan (3-6, 1-4) got their only score on a six-yard touchdown run by Reginald Richter.
