"Three-pointers in the first half opened things up," said Cougars coach Matt McCarty. "We were able to take advantage of the driving lanes in the second half."

For the game, Vernon Hills had nine 3-pointers, with seven coming the first half.

Also in the first half was a highlight-reel dunk by Daniels that had the big crowd roaring.

"Davaris' dunk was spectacular," McCarty said. "It gave the team energy and excited the crowd."
