Walther Lutheran senior Christian Thompson won the Class 2A Three-Point Showdown Friday evening in Peoria by hitting 10 shots from behind the arc.
Thompson edged Hamilton County's Seth Thomas, who made nine three-pointers. Reed-Custer's Justin Kunz and Aurora Christian's T.J. McNelis tied for third place with seven three-pointers apiece.
McNelis and Thomas led Thursday's qualifying, making a dozen shots each. Thompson sank 10 and survived one tiebreaker round, while Kunz made 10 and had to go through two extra rounds to advance.
The top Chicagoland finisher in Class 1A was Illinois Lutheran senior Nate Waggoner, who took third with seven three-pointers. Tri-Valley's Andrew Lauritzen beat out Ridgeview's Bradley Ghere 12-9 for the title.
In the 1A Slam Dunk contest, Mounds Meridian's Marland Johnson edged Deer Creek-Mackinaw's Austin Weishaupt 33-32 for the title. No Chicago area player reached the finals.
