After losing its final Inter-City North game, conference champion Uplift was hoping to rebound in the Inter-City playoffs.
Uplift will not have the opportunity to represent the North Side in the Inter-City championship after losing to Tilden 22-6, Wednesday Oct. 17 in the first round.
Trailing 6-0, quarterback Sened Tesfay scored on a one-yard touchdown plunge late in the first quarter, but Tilden would extend the lead to 14-6 at halftime.
Uplift had a chance to tie the game in the third quarter, but after marching to the Tilden 10 the drive stalled with a fumble.
"We had some bad luck," Uplift head coach Rick Alboyd said. "I thought the fumble was a questionable call. I thought he was down and the ground caused the fumble, but they ended up getting the ball."
"Being a young team, they reacted and we got three straight penalties that put them in good field position."
Tilden would score their final touchdown on the possession following the fumble.
Despite losing its final two games of the season, Uplift (6-3, 5-1) was happy with its performance in its first season as a varsity program.
"I'm most definitely happy with how the season went," Alboyd said. "A first-year varsity program winning the conference is unheard of. We took lots of bumps and bruises, but I have everyone coming back next year. We have higher expectations and we're going to get a chance to put a little more together."
After handing eventual Inter-City North champion Uplift its first loss of the season in Week 8, the Rough Riders had an opportunity to finish above .500.
Little Village ended Roosevelt's recent surge and its season with a 25-6 win last Saturday. The Rough Riders, who were 1-8 last season, had won three of their last four games heading into the season finale.
Roosevelt finished the season 4-5 and 4-2 in the Inter-City North, where it will play next season.
After being outscored 111-0 in their first three games, the Tigers turned their season around by winning two of their next five.
Sullivan -- who was winless last season -- hoped to end its season on a high note. Douglass, however, had other ideas and crushed the Tigers 30-6 in a non-conference game last Saturday.
It was the seventh time this season the Tigers allowed 24 points or more.
Sullivan finished 2-7 and 2-4 in the Inter-City North, where it will play next season.
The Bulldogs steamrolled the Eagles in the season finale to finish the season with a 6-3 record.
The Vikings finished the season with a 1-8 record after falling in the season finale.
