Tilden

2007 record: 7-2

Coach: Kenneth Philpot (14th year)

Returning starters: 8

Players to watch:

QB Daniel Beals, 6-0, 180, Sr.

OG/DT Dante Hayes, 6-0, 240, Sr.

FB/K DeShaun Sain, 5-11, 215, Sr.

WR/DB Lamont Wood, 5-9, 165, Sr.

OT/DE Ricky Watson, 6-3, 195, Sr.

Outlook: The Blue Devils take the leap in class from the Intra-City. Quarterback Daniel Beals is the player other teams are focused to stop. "He's one of the best passing quarterbacks in the Public League," said coach Ken Philpot.

Fullback DeShaun Sain is a bruising inside runner. Dante Hayes and Ricky Watson are responsible for the interior lines. Tilden offers good speed, quickness and athleticism. Now the team must ratchet up its intensity and physical level.

Coach's take: "The biggest difference is going to be the quality of the competition. I told the kids they have to continue to work hard and not just rely on the success of last year's team. We're really looking forward to the challenge. We have good skill players, a good quarterback and some decent size."--Kenneth Philpot
