Thornridge's McCall chooses Spartans

Football season is rapidly approaching and for some players, ending the recruiting process can ease their minds entering a season. Thornridge running back Mika'il McCall did just that when he gave an oral commitment to Michigan State last week.
The senior visited the East Lansing campus last week for a camp and enjoyed the trip.
"It was a great atmosphere and I must have come on the right day," McCall said. "They worked hard and the whole coaching staff met me. It felt like home to me."
While the campus played a part in the commitment, there were other reasons behind McCall's decision.
"I'm always willing to compete with anybody," McCall said. "I like to compete with guys at the same position because it makes me want to do better. Academics and the coaching staff (were factors) too."
Thornridge coach Matt Morrissey believes the Spartans scored a versatile threat in the backfield with McCall's commitment.
"He is so dynamic in his style because he can get between the tackles with a short powerful burst. But once he gets in the open field and starts running in full-stride he's gone," Morrissey said. "He's 215, 220 pounds and he can lower the shoulder on you if he wants but he'll also put a move on you. He's a total package type of guy."
McCall also had offers from Syracuse, Purdue, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Western Kentucky and Central Michigan.
