T.F. SOUTH (1-1) AT OAK FOREST (2-0)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Last week: T.F. South 37, Collins 6;
Oak Forest 47, Rich Central 12

The breakdown: The Rebels would like to use a steady dose of RB Giovanni Canty at the Bengals in an effort to eat clock. This much is certain: T.F. South will do everything in its power to keep the ball out of the hands of the Bengals’ Tevin Coleman, who scored four touchdowns against Rich Central. If that means punting the ball out of bounds, so be it. Oak Forest must be on guard for some trickery from the Rebels, who always have something up their sleeve in the form of a fake punt or flea-flicker.

EISENHOWER (1-1) AT EVERGREEN PARK (2-0)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Last week: Eisenhower 42, Andrew 21;
Evergreen Park 41, Payton 0

The breakdown: The Cardinals put the ball in the hands of QB Justin Geiter more often against Andrew and the results were impressive: more than 200 yards rushing and two TDs. The Mustangs should be prepared for a similar attack, though Eienhower speedster Leo Okeke will get chances to tote the pigskin. Evergreen Park hasn’t relied as much on RB Victor Baker as anticipated, giving QB Jesse McClain ample opportunities to throw the ball. Expect the Cardinals to load up to stopping Baker and force the Mustangs to go to the air.

LOCKPORT (2-0) AT LINCOLN-WAY EAST (2-0)

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Last week: Lockport 28, Plainfield North 21; Lincoln-Way East 49, Dunbar 15

The breakdown: Porters RB Dexter Taylor is averaging a shade more than 10 yards per carry. If he can average half that amount per carry the Porters might pull off the upset, especially if QB Billy Reed makes his much-anticipated return from an injury. Somehow, some way, Lockport must sustain drives and keep the Griffins’ high-powered offense on the sidelines. If not, East QB Blake Winkler, who has passed for 414 yards and seven TDs, will have a field day. WR Jelani Yancy is a top target of Winkler’s, averaging 18.8 yards per catch.

RICHARDS (1-1) AT LEMONT (2-0)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Last week: Morris 28, Richards 16; Lemont 49, Riverside-Brookfield 0

The breakdown: The Bulldogs got off to a slow start against Morris and paid for it. A similar scenario here and they will suffer the same fate. The Richards offense has been inconsistent. QB Tommy Mister and RB Marcus Smith must have solid games for the Bulldogs to have a shot. Lemont has yet to be tested. RB Mike Anzalone is averaging nearly 12 yards per carry. QB Damon Aleman hasn’t been asked to do too much. However, he might need to pass the pigskin effectively to prevent the Bulldogs from keying on stopping the run.

HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR (2-0) AT LINCOLN-WAY CENTRAL (1-1)

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Last week: H-F 47, Deerfield 0;
Lincoln-Way Central 41, Thornridge 20

The breakdown: The Vikings have showed great balance on offense. QB Tim Williams, WR Gerald Butler and RB Sheldon Jones are explosive. Central would benefit from a few Vikings turnovers. The Knights’ might want to reconsider their no-huddle attack, which might play right into the hands of H-F. Brett Ditchman is Central’s go-to-guy out of the backfield. QB Cale Hayes will need to complete some passes in an effort to keep the chains moving.

DE LA SALLE (2-0) VS. MOUNT CARMEL (2-0)
AT GATELY STADIUM

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Last week: De La Salle 30, Gordon Tech 22; Mount Carmel 31, Morgan Park 0

The breakdown: RB Mikale Wilbon has been a workhorse for the Meteors. He registered 247 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries against Gordon Tech. He’ll need to post similar numbers if De La Salle is going to have any chance at upendwing the Caravan. A win here and Frank Lenti ties Richards legend Gary Korhonen for most wins by an Illinois football coach with 315. Brandon Greer and Draco Smith have proved to be a potent 1-2 punch out of the backfield.
