Even though it was a hot, humid evening, T.F. South barely broke a sweat rolling to a 37-6 victory over the Cobras Friday night in Chicago.

“We’ve played in the city before, and tonight was just a long, hot, humid bus ride,” T.F. South coach Tom Padjen said.

The Rebel starters played one half and amassed a 30-0 lead. Halfback Geovanni Canty scored three touchdowns on plunges of 1 yard each. He finished with seven carries for 46 yards.

“It feels great to score. After last week’s loss we knew we had to work hard to prepare for this week,” said Canty.

Joe Young led the Rebels (1-1) with 10 carries for 79 yards.

Quarterback Marlon Harris was 4-for-6 for 83 yards. He hooked up with Saleem Sanford for a 12-yard touchdown strike that made the score 9-0 in the first quarter.

“It didn’t matter matter to us that we didn’t know a lot about Collins. We were just ready to play,” said Harris. Collins (1-1) scored its only points on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jaureese Gaines to Darien Bankhead.

Bankhead finished with 12 carries for 63 yards and 22 receiving yards.
