Football: T.F. North topples Stagg
Against the Stagg Chargers, T.F. North took charge Friday night.
The Meteors beat Stagg 20-7 in the season opener for both teams.
T.F. North coach Artie Rodgers wasn’t entirely pleased even though his team came away with the win.
“We played really hard, but we made a ton of mistakes,” Rodgers said. “Our effort was outstanding, but we just shot ourselves in the foot.”
T.F. North quarterback Calvin Lindsey completed just 11 passes in 27 attempts and was sacked by Stagg’s Victor Cieslak.
“There were a lot of mental mistakes that I made and we made as a team,” Lindsey said. “We’re going to focus on Week 2.”
Stagg running back Matt Klimasz rushed for 51 yards in the loss, including 13 yards for a touchdown on a first-quarter drive.
T.F. North’s Delon Perry rushed for an 11-yard touchdown in the first quarter after gaining 47 yards on a pass play.
LeByron Collins rushed 16 yards for the Meteors’ final touchdown.
Perry said T.F. North still has some work to do.
“Come Week 2, we’ll have something for people to see,” he said.
