What defines a Player of the Year is open to interpretation. In St. Viator coach Mike Taylor’s eyes, Lions goalie/defender/forward Jon Harris has perfect credentials.
‘‘This kid is definitely the most talented all-around player in high school today,’’ Taylor said.
‘‘He played his first three years of high school in the field, and was back in his real position in goal this fall.’’
As a sweeper in 2006, Harris keyed a defense that allowed a mere 12 goals. This fall, he moved back to his normal spot and gave up only eight goals in 19 games. He posted 14 shutouts.
And now the Northwestern-bound senior has recorded this honor — 2007 Sun-Times Player of the Year.
