The St. Joseph soccer team, which finshed third at the Class 2A state tournament, had junior forward Marco Gutierrez named all-state by the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association.
St. Joseph senior Roberto Almazan was all-sectional, and St. Joseph senior Juan Perez and Nazareth senior Mike Kocourek were honorable mention all-sectional.
Sophomore goalie Jovani Castanon was named co-Most Valuable Player on the All-East Suburban Catholic Conference team. Also named All-ESCC were Gutierrez, Almazan, Perez and St. Joseph juniors Alex Gutierrez and John Porvaznik. Castanon and Perez were all-conference for the second time.
Nazareth players who were named Scholar-Athletes by the school as seniors with cumulative grade-point averages of at least 3.5 after six semesters were Kocourek, Jesus Adrian Campos, Julio Esparza, Frank Laghi and Patrick Mortimer.
• Lyons Township junior Billy McGuinness was named all-state, and LT seniors James Brenson and Stefan Luetkehans were named all-sectional.
McGuinness, Brenson, Luetkehans, senior James Mannos and juniors Sullivan Fox and Chris Meingast were named to the All-West Suburban Conference Silver Division Team for the first time.
LT's members of the All-WSC Senior Academic Team for seniors with cumulative GPAs of at least 4.0 were Michael Baron, Daniel Bonistalli, Brenson, Kevin Clancy, Samuel Gabrek, Kyle Ludwig, Luetkehans, Mannos, Michael Moberg, Alexander Molnar, Peter Molnar, John Moustis, John Pera, Kevin Raleigh, Eric Robert, Mark Salerno, Todd Shinall, David Thomas, Matthew Thompson and Nicholas Wentink.
Nazareth running back LaSteven McKinney was among only two juniors named to the 18-player Class 5A All-State Team by the Illinois Football Coaches Association.
Nazareth senior Jon Nelson was named to the IFCA's All-State Academic Football Team. Nominated players must receive all-conference honors and have at least a 3.5 GPA.
Besides McKinney and Nelson, other All-ESCC players included Nazareth seniors Kyle Borkovec, Antonio Miranda, Steven Murphy and Mike Reynolds and juniors Pat Dunn and Mike Williams and St. Joseph seniors Tim Kelly and Ron Moore. McKinney is a two-time all-conference recipient.
Nazareth Scholar-Athlete Awards went to Robert Devine, Thomas Doyle, Matthew Letcher, Mark McDonald, Steven Murphy, Nelson and Timothy Tiernan.
• LT seniors Matt Lakis, Rafal Redlinski and Pat Thomas and junior Ryan Mitchell were named to the All-WSC Silver Team. Thomas also was all-conference in 2007.

• Fenwick (Oak Park) senior Mike Rosemeyer of LaGrange Park and Saint Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) senior Mike Javorski of La Grange were named to the All-Chicago Catholic League White Division Team for the first time.
LT senior Rachel Levitt and junior Jamie Lundstrom were named to the All-WSC Silver Team for the first time.
The Lions' Mary Barnum, Olga Cholewick, Kelsey Gacek, Ellen Goldrick, Levitt and Lisa Wronski were All-WSC Senior Academic Team members.
• St. Joseph senior Ashley Talley and Nazareth juniors Jen Milligan and Jill Paluch were named to the All-ESCC Team for the first time.
Taylor Grossi and Stephanie Polich were Nazareth Scholar-Athletes.
• Saint Ignatius sophomores Maddie Greybar of Western Springs and Molly Berger and Kate Aronson, both of La Grange, earned Girls Catholic Athletic Conference All-Academic honors for GPAs of at least 3.0. They also helped the Wolfpack earn the Illinois High School Association Academic Achievement Award for the fourth straight year with a team GPA of 3.19.
The doubles team of LT senior Elise Woulfe and junior Tina Harazin was named to the Illinois Tennis Coaches Association All-State Team.
LT's Monica Barc, Adrienne Barnabee, Molly Barry, Sara Bowden, Paige Codilis, Grace Hoglund, Kimberly Jaworski, Elizabeth Mardiks, Elizabeth Story and Woulfe were All-WSC Senior Academic Team recipients.
• Meghan Callaghan, Elizabeth Horan, Nora O'Connell, Sarah Patterson, Micaela Unger and Caelan Weldon were Nazareth Scholar-Athletes.
• Montini Catholic (Lombard) juniors Kimberly Bajzek and Briana Gonzalez of Westchester were named to the All-Suburban Catholic Conference Academic Team for athletes who posted at least a 3.7 GPA during the most recently completed semester.

• Fenwick junior Margaret Connelly of Western Springs was named the Most Valuable Performer in the ESCC. The conference champion by four seconds went on to finish 46th at the Class 3A state meet.
