South Shore

2007 record: 2-7

Coach: Kevin Murray (5th year)

Returning starters: 8

Players to watch:

RB Ameer Abdullah, 5-9, 180, Jr.

LB Lesley Averhart, 5-10, 190 Sr.

WR/DB Jermaine Boykin, 5-10, 175, Sr.

OT/DT Demone Flowers, 6-2, 255, Sr.

Outlook: Making a lateral move from a rival Chicago section, the Tars are looking for a fresh start and eager to rebound from a disappointing season of a year ago.

Coach Kevin Murray has a capable runner in Ameer Abdullah and a strong receiver in Jermaine Boykin to take advantage of his spread offense. Demone Flowers anchors the interior line.

Coach's take: I hope we win more than two games. We have a good running back [Abdullah] that I think people are going to hear about. We only have about 25 kids on the roster.

"We have some new teams in the conference, and I hope we're going to be up there at the end. We should be able to turn it around this year. I expect the conference to be between Hope, Agricultural Science and us."-- Kevin Murray
