Talk about making a first impression. That's what Remone Gordon’s teammates will be saying when they return to classes at Senn on Monday.
The junior, who recently moved to the United States from Jamaica, recorded a hat trick in his first game for the Bulldogs on Saturday, leading Senn to a come-from-behind 4-2 victory over Juarez in pool play of the Public League Tournament.
Trailing 1-0 in the second half, the 6-4 junior toyed with the Juarez backline and found the back of the net three straight times in a 20-minute stretch to give Senn (5-3-2) a commanding cushion.
‘‘This is a good win for us,’’ Gordon said. ‘‘I was just doing what my coach told me to do.
‘‘He moved me from the middle to the right side in the second half, and that adjustment paid off for us. It’s never easy to come back, but we did.’’
Girmay Berhe closed out the scoring for Senn.
Joel Conejo and Adrian Martinez had the lone goals for Juarez.
‘‘We won and it’s nice, but we have to focus on our next game,’’ Gordon said.
Up next for Gordon and Co. is Young (8-7-2), which recorded a 2-1 win over Gage Park. Matt Joss and Justin Taylor scored for the Dolphins.
