Christine Solans had eight kills, Kristen Pedersen had seven kills and three blocks and sophomore setter Abby Fesl added 25 assists as Hersey (25-5) claimed its third consecutive Mid-Suburban League title by defeating Schaumburg 12-25, 25-17, 25-21 in Arlington Heights.
"We were nervous in the beginning, but we knew we could pull it out," Solans said. "We had played them before and we knew where their shots were going to go."
Emily Young had 11 assists, eight kills and 10 digs for Schaumburg (21-13). "In the second game, they started swinging over our block," Young said. "We needed to focus on our passing a little more.
"The second game swung the momentum and we weren't able to change it back in our favor."
