GENEVA -- Marmion's wrestling team had beaten Geneva and Sandwich only one time each since the Cadets started their program a few years back.

Tuesday, the Cadets put on a powerful display to pick up win No. 2 against each team in non-conference action. Marmion put a hurting on a young Sandwich squad 57-3 and followed that up with 47-19 win over the Vikings.

"This win was all about the team," said Marmion 140-pounder Pat Greco, who moved to 7-2 overall with a pair of wins. "Coming from such a small school, we don't have a lot of depth, but we have heart. What we do in the room together is a reflection of what we did tonight."

When Andy Hernandez came back in the final five seconds to beat Sandwich's Nick Palmer 7-6 to start their dual, the Cadets (4-1) got on a roll.

They built a 19-0 lead by winning the first five matches of the dual. That dominance carried on throughout. Ryan Riggs (112), Eddie Breen (125), Mike York (135), Davie Niels (160) and Nico Jimenez (171) each recorded pins in the win.

"Sandwich is young this year (only one senior), but it was still nice to get the win," Marmion coach Dean Branstetter said. "Getting wins like this makes it easier to get back to work tomorrow."

Sandwich edged Geneva (2-4) in their dual 34-31. With the meet tied at 31-31, Nolan Gipe topped Justin Heinz by decision 8-3 to give the win to the Indians (1-3).

"We're taking our lumps this year," Sandwich coach Josh McCarty said. "We're mostly freshmen and sophomores, and it's hard to win every night in that situation. We're hoping to gain some experience before we get to regionals with this group."
