Sandburg downs Griffins

Sandburg d. Lincoln-Way East: 25-20, 25-22

Matt Pollock tallied 12 kills to lead No. 8 Sandburg to a 25-20, 25-22 over Lincoln-Way East Wednesday in SouthWest Suburban play.

Matt Fox had six kills and Ryan Piper added 13 kills for the Eagles (4-1, 1-0)

Mike Bolhuis had 12 digs, Ryan Wallenga eight and Mike McKenzie six for the Griffins (4-3, 0-1).

Nick Janky and Justin Allen finished with six and five kills, respectively. Dan Hunt contributed 11 assists and Scott Burke had eight.

"We played great defense and slowed down Sandburg's offense," Lincoln-Way East coach Dawn Murphy said. "The backcourt passing on both sides was outstanding. That kept rally play exciting."
