Reavis takes down Evergreen Park

Monday’s game against Evergreen Park was a “trap” game for host Reavis.
The Rams had gone 6-0-3 in their previous nine matches, were 7-0 in conference, had a date on Tuesday with Argo — which is 8-0 in conference — for a chance to sit alone atop the South Suburban Red and were facing a 1-16 Mustangs squad.
“The guys know it’s one game at a time and that it’s a very competitive conference,” Reavis coach Bob Morack said before the game. “With the way Argo is playing, we have to keep pace with them and win this game.”
Reavis used a huge second half to knock off Evergreen Park 6-0, setting the stage for a matchup of undefeated conference teams.
Reavis scored less than 90 seconds into the game on its first shot. Isaac Wheadon sent a cross that Luke Duda scored off his stomach.
“I guess I was hungry,” Duda said. “Every game we play we want to win, no matter who we play.”
Reavis (11-4-4, 8-0) put 18 more shots on goal in the first half but could not find the back of the net.
In the second half, the Rams’ shooting percentage went up a bit.
Luis Martinez scored from 23 yards out less than five minutes into the second half to make it 2-0. Less than a minute later, Wheadon found Jose Estrada in the box to make it 3-0. Marko Enciso found Kamile Szczesniak in the box to make it 4-0 less than three minutes after Estrada’s goal.
Jair Castoran joined the scoring party, thanks to an assist from Szczesniak five minutes later, and Francisco Franco capped the scoring 30 seconds later on a redirect in the box.
Evergreen Park (1-17, 0-10) was outshot 40-1.
