Downers South breezes by Proviso East

Downers South junior quarterback A.J. Simoncelli threw three touchdown

passes in a 28-0 win over Proviso East (0-6, 0-3) in a West Suburban

Conference Gold Division game on Saturday in Maywood.

On the receiving end of touchdown passes of 48 and four yards was senior

receiver Ryan Oruche.

Downers South (4-2, 3-0) junior running back Josh Williams had 145 yards on

the ground on 27 carries. He did not play in the second half.

Williams had a 10-yard touchdown run on the first possession of the game.

"We have a lot of weapons on offense," Oruche said. "It allows us to do a

lot more things. I don't think we played our best game. We have a lot of

work to do."

The other touchdown came on a five-yard pass from Simoncelli to Jordan Hoffman.

Terrance West was a bright spot for the Pirates with five receptions for 57

yards.

Proviso East quarterback Ricky Montoya completed 12 passes for 129 yards.
