There was more to Providence’s 63-47 victory Monday night over host Joliet West than another strong performance from senior standout Cassidy Glenn.

While Glenn asserted herself as usual with 16 points and seven rebounds, the 5-foot-11 forward had plenty of help from a promising young roster that includes several juniors, two freshmen and a sophomore.

“I’ve got very talented offensive players,’’ Providence coach Eileen Copenhaver said. “You don’t know where the points are going to come from. Cassidy and Anna (Novak) are typically more consistent, but we have an abundance of kids who can shoot a little bit.’’

Junior forward Sam Rohrer contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, spearheading the second-half surge with seven third-quarter points that included a steal and driving layup to put Providence ahead 48-33 with 1:10 left in the quarter.

“I focus on defense first and my offense comes,’’ Rohrer said. “Coming into this game we knew we had to get after the ball because they’re fast and quick. That’s what we focused on.’’

Two freshmen, starting guard Alyssa Jurges (10 points) and 5-10 center Mary Fashingbauer (11 points, eight rebounds) coming off the bench give Providence strength inside and outside.

“Our freshmen class as a whole is outstanding,’’ Copenhaver said. “We’re blessed this year.’’

Providence (10-8) has won three in a row since the pre-Christmas Naperville North Tournament.

“It’s a good place to be right now,’’ Copenhaver said. “Early in the year we really had a tough, tough schedule, let a couple games slip. I just feel like we’re getting stronger as the weeks go on.’’

“It’s a team you have to play disciplined against because they’re so deep,’’ Joliet West coach Kevin Michaels said. “They can have anyone come off the bench and you know they’re going to step in and do the job.’’

Providence led 32-27 at halftime behind eight points from Novak, six from Glenn and five each from Jurges and Fashingbauer. Joliet West was only 8-of-28 from the field in the second half as Providence extended its five-point halftime lead.

“The second half, we couldn’t get into any rhythm,’’ Michaels said. “We shot 24 times in the paint. We had open looks. You’ve got to give them credit too. Their defense was good—they had hands in our face.’’

Vicky Orasco led Joliet West (5-8) with 11 points and Khadija Cooley and Daviona Ervins each had seven points.

Next for Providence is Saturday against Nazareth, the Celtics’ first home game since Dec. 10.

“We’ve finally got a home game,’’ Copenhaver said.
