Outlook: The Falcons are looking to atone for a disappointing season a year ago that caused them to drop from the prestigious Illini division. Jerry Reed, the head coach with the longest tenure in the section believes he has a more dedicated and committed group.

The Falcons have excellent interior size and good speed and skill position players. The key is the continued growth of quarterback Evan Brown. He sets the tone for the rest of the team.

Coach's take: "The guys that have been here from the start have a real kinship for one another, and that's a positive sign. I like the togetherness and the teamwork so far. I see some toughness out there.

"I wouldn't say the kids have a sour taste about dropping down from the Illini. The onus of last year's disappointment is really on me. I take the blame for that.

"As far as the conference is concerned, nothing is a given. We have to play up to our ability. Even though we're in the Chicago conference now, we have to respect our opponents." -- Jerry Reed
