Big win for Sandwich

Sandwich 15, Plano 6: Sandwich downed two-time defending Class 3A state champion Plano for the first time since 2002.

The Indians (3-0) clung to a one-point lead late in the fourth quarter until quarterback Jordan Beckwith found Troy King on fourth down from the 6-yard line for the final score. Sandwich converted a two-point conversion for the final margin of victory.

Plano, which fell to 1-2, got its only touchdown from Cesar Ocon on a 70-yard fumble return.

Tim Schmitt opened the scoring with a 30-yard touchdown run for the home team.
