Road warrior Romeoville wins 11th straight

The Romeoville girls basketball team hasn't played many home games this year.
The Spartans have played just seven of 19 games at home. And, 12 of the last 14 have been away from the friendly confines.
No worries.
Romeoville won its ninth straight away game, 63-39 over Southwest Prairie Conference rival Plainfield South Tuesday.
The Spartans are 15-4 overall and 7-1 in the SPC.
"We're starting to play well and it doesn't matter if we are home or away," Romeoville coach Julio Carrasco said. "The girls want to play and they don't want to lose. These girls want to win every game, no matter if it's home or away."
Romeoville is riding an 11-game win streak and will play five of its last seven regular-season games at home. Plainfield South dropped to 2-18, 0-8.
"Our team came up with two points of emphasis we wanted to hustle on defense and be patient on offense," Plainfield South coach Tor Erickson said. "For one reason or another, we got out hustled to the ball and whether it was their pressure or our impatience on offense, we turned the ball over way too many times."
Offensively, Romeoville placed three players in double figures. Kiera Currie had 16 points and eight rebounds, Abby Smith came up with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists and Precious Williams chipped in 12 points and five steals at the top of the Spartan press.
Brianna Harris added seven points, 11 rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Tied at 7-all, Romeoville ended the first quarter on an 8-1 run and never looked back.
The Spartans led 36-18 at the half and 51-27 after three quarters.
"We really feel if we would have done the two things we talked about, we would have put ourselves in position to at least play for a win at the end," Erickson said.
Freshman Jacqui Eubanks scored 14 points and junior Jordan Miller posted 10 points of the Cougars.
Romeoville's Brianna Harris pulls down one of her 11 rebounds during the Spartans' 63-39 Southwest Prairie Conference win over Plainfield South Tuesday in Plainfield.
