Forgive Kapri Bibbs if he wants to sleep in Saturday morning.

The Plainfield North running back carried 54 times for 354 yards and five

touchdowns in a 43-35 win over Plainfield South to force a three-way tie

atop the Southwest Prairie Conference. North, South and Minooka all finished

with 6-1 league records. Bibbs scored on a 65-yard run late in the third

quarter to give the Tigers the lead for good.

"It feels great to get a piece of the conference title. I'm so proud of our kids," said Plainfield North coach Tim Kane. "I am not taking anything away from South, but we heard so much this week about how good their offense is. Well, we think we have a pretty good offense, too."

In an action-packed first half, Plainfield South took a 22-21 lead after

trailing 21-7.

Quarterback Austin Howarth completed 9 of 18 for 115 yards for the Cougars

before halftime, but did most of the damage with his legs. His 53-yard

scramble set up one touchdown, and an 11-yard gallop set up another. The

half's final TD was a two-yard run by John Magee. The ensuing extra point snap

was high, and holder Donnell Collins threw a two-point conversion pass to

Marco Orozco for a 22-21 lead.

Bibbs carried 22 times for 131 yards in the first half and threw a 90-yard

touchdown pass to Evan Whaley on a halfback option.
